Beyond: Two Souls Coming to PS4?

According to an article by Michael McWhertor via Polygon on September 2nd, 2014, "Quantic Dream's PlayStation 3 adventure game Beyond: Two Souls might be the latest game making a generational leap. Trophies for a PlayStation 4 version of the game have recently appeared on achievement-tracking web site Exophase.

Sony Computer Entertainment hasn't announced a PS4 port of Beyond: Two Souls, but Exophase says it pulls its trophy data from Sony's PlayStation Network. The PS4 trophy listing is separate from the existing PS3 version of the game.

Quantic Dream confirmed last year that it was developing an unnamed PS4 title, but indicated at the time that its next-generation game was something new. "Innovation is part of our DNA," Quantic Dream co-CEO…

IMPORTANT: New Admin?

Hello, users. The current administrator on this wiki is not active, and with the recent release of the game, there should be a new administrator to run the wiki. I am very experienced with coding and I can get the wiki a new logo and background, as well as edit the coding. I know that I do not have many edits, but I currently have over 120 pages listed that I will make in the future -- administration rights will help me get these pages done with ease. I need most of the community to come to a consent about this topic, and to discuss if I should be an admin here or not. Depending on the results, I will send this blog post to Wikia's way and we can have a new administrator here to help the wiki get on it's feet. Comment below and happy editi…

Forbes Article Talks B:TS and 'Spousal' Gaming

Paul Tassi's article from October 9th, 2013 states...

My wife’s usual after-work routine is to come home, get changed, and unwind with a DVR-ed episode of Scandal, New Girl or The Vampire Diaries. Yesterday, she came home, turned on my PlayStation 3, and proceeded to play Beyond: Two Souls for the next four and a half hours.

My wife is not a gamer. Despite the fact that she’d say otherwise, the last games she played with any regularity were the original Doom and Crash Bandicoot back when she was in grade school. So while spousal gaming might be normal in some marriages, it isn’t in mine, and it’s truly amazing how Beyond: Two Souls has managed to capture my wife’s interest.

The game is divisive, that much is clear from the reviews. It’s rare …

Beyond: Two Souls Review Roundup

It's been four years since Quantic Dream released Heavy Rain, the PS3 exclusive action/adventure game that blurred the lines between game, movie, and interactive story. Naturally, it rubbed some gamers the wrong way with its linear nature and QTE centric controls, but it received a generally positive reception. Beyond: Two Souls continues that tradition, though with a larger budget, and while utilizing the acting talents of Ellen Page and Willem Dafoe. Will it eclipse its predecessor?

Check out the critical response below and let us know your thoughts in the comments section!

GameZone Article Compares Heavy Rain and B:TS

The article by Matt Liebl from October 4th, 2013 is accompanied by a video interview with Quantic Dream's co-CEO Guillaume de Fondaumiere.

Both have a heavy cinematic approach to emotionally-driven narrative; both have fairly simplistic control schemes; and both feature cutting-edge performance capturing and deep character development. But despite their core similarities, Beyond: Two Souls is not merely a clone of Heavy Rain.

WhatCulture.com Reviews B:TS Demo

Robert Kjoder's article from October 1st, 2013 reviews the new B:TS demo opening with:

Similar to his previous games Heavy Rain and Indigo Prophecy, Beyond is the furthest thing from a conventional video game you can possibly play, to the point where people bicker left and right as to whether the studio is even creating games. Instead of shooting the same generic enemies or partaking in some other conventional method of gameplay, Quantic Dream primarily has you interacting with context sensitive button presses and dialogue mechanics, both of which bend the story in different directions from player to player.

In between their games, Quantic Dream has made a habit of releasing ambitious tech demo videos. Production Budget for B:TS

According to an article on PlayStationLifeStyle.net by Jason Dunning

...the game had a production budget of €20 million ($27 million US).

If this is correct, it would be slightly behind the €22 million that Heavy Rain cost to produce, but when marketing and distribution was added to the cost of Heavy Rain, it reached €40 million. After spending all that, it ended up making €100 million, sold over 3 million copies, and had 3% of people reach the Platinum.

Article outlining the Tribeca Film Festival Demo

by Venture Beat located here outlines in brief the footage in the new demo released at the festival. The slightly spoilery article goes on to state:

When the gameplay footage ended on a cliffhanger, you could feel the audience’s anticipation to learn what happens next. That’d be a decent accomplishment for a  film, but for a game that’s actually meant to be played, it was astounding how much Beyond was able to rope us in simply based on watching it.

Has David Cage finally reached his goal of a game with the emotional impact and story quality of a film?
